A 190-acre fire near the Oroville Airport caused homes to be briefly threatened, but luckily firefighters stopped the forward progress, according to our reporter Laura Eng.

UPDATE -  A 190-acre fire near the Oroville Airport caused homes to be briefly threatened, but luckily firefighters stopped the forward progress, according to our reporter Laura Eng.

The blaze also caused some road closures in the area specifically at Oro Dam Boulevard just west of Par 4 Way in west Oroville.

Firefighters said on scene that they have a good handle on the fire and that crews have it contained to 50 percent as of 4 p.m.

The fire initially started at 20 acres but quickly grew 170 more after two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.




OROVILLE, Calif.
- Cal Fire-Butte County is at the scene of a 50-acre fire that is threatening structures, according to a tweet from the agency.


The fire is located near the Oroville Airport off Par 4 Way, said Cal Fire.

The fire was reported before 1:30 p.m.
