REDDING, Calif. - While firefighters battle the 1,350-acre fire west of Redding called the “Creek Fire,” the Bureau of Land Management is asking people to stay away from the Clear Creek Greenway and Cloverdale Recreation area.

In an email sent by the agency, it said:

“Firefighters will be mopping up hot spots and falling dead and smoldering trees for the next week. For their own safety, people should avoid the trails and swimming areas,” said Jennifer Mata, manager of the BLM Redding Field Office.

The “Creek Fire” is 60 percent contained as of Tuesday.
