The Town of Paradise is exploring the possibility of becoming part of the "Blue Zones Project".  It's described as a "community well-being initiative".   The goal is to help residents to live longer, happier lives with lower rates of chronic diseases and a higher quality of life.

Experts from Blue Zones Project will visit Paradise from March 19–21 to see if the community is ready for the program. The assessment will include focus groups and meetings with representatives from government, health care,  businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, civic organizations, nonprofits and more.

The Blue Zones Project was established in 2010. It's  inspired by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow and New York Times best-selling author who identified five regions of the world—or Blue Zones—with the highest concentration of people living to 100 years or older.  It incorporates his findings ... and works with cities to implement policies and programs that will move a community toward optimal health and well-being.  Right now there are 42 communities in nine states that have joined.

A presentation about the Blue Zones Project will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 19th, at the Paradise Performing Arts Center, 777 Nunneley Road.

Then, on Tuesday March 20th there will be Focus Group discussions .  The sessions are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 2:30 p.m., also at the Paradise Performing Arts Center.

Finally, a Blue Zones Project  "Friends @ 5" reception is planned from 5 - 6 p.m. at Chapelle de L'Artiste Chateau, 3300 Inspiration Lane, Paradise.
