For the Fourth of July holiday maximum enforcement period.

Officers say they know many people will be out traveling and enjoying the fire works show so they just want to make sure everyone gets home safely.

"We know people like to go out and have a good time which is good but we want them to have a good time responsibly," said Sergeant Tim Hinkson.

Some of the key things they’ll be targeting this holiday season will be speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving.

"Also always looking out for those impared drivers so not just the alcohol but the drugged driving, they both fall under the impared driving thing and you can be arrested," said Hinkson.

And despite the enforcement period beginning at six Tuesday evening, Action News Now joined officers as they began patrol early.

Sergeant Hinkson says veteran officers in this area know what key places they regularly see incidents over the patiotic holiday.

This includes the annual Anderson Explodes show and the City of Redding fireworks.

So expect to see officers at the event and on your way out.

"We'll be able to have more officers out patrolling the impaired driving," said Hinkson.

He adds officers won’t just be enforcing the law, they'll be there if your car overheats, your tire blows out , or you just need a hand.
