A few weeks ago we told you about a Chico business that's leading the way on a 'no straw' movement, and now Chico state is the latest to join the effort.

Instead of plastic straws they are offering alternatives such as paper straws, steel and even bamboo.

Today students with the Sustainability Management Association were selling stainless steel straw kits which came with the straw, a cleaning brush and a sticker for $1.25 each.

Senior Emily Hilbers said it's a small action that makes a big difference.

"I love this earth, and I want it to be good for my children, and my children's children, and I feel this personal responsibility to encourage others to do the same," said Hilbers.

There are currently 25 Chico businesses taking part in the strawless challenge, but the organizers hope to get even more involved.
