You're going to want to grab that jacket and umbrella before you head out the door in the mountains today, but valley areas are expected to stay mostly dry for your Wednesday. The cooling trend will continue today, and mountain areas are expecting more showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures have dipped into the 50's to low 60's in the valley overnight, and into the 40's to 50's in the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms wrapped up late last night in the mountains, and we've been left with cloudy skies lingering across the region this morning. Showers will more than likely start to develop between 10 to 11 am in the mountains, and will ramp up heading into your afternoon hours. There will be a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms to brush through the Northern end of the valley this afternoon, but it does look like most of the activity will be constrained to the mountains. Winds will be out of the South to 15mph, with gusts to 25mph this afternoon. Humidity is projected to stay higher today, which will help to keep fire danger in the moderate range despite the stronger winds. High temperatures will end up in the low to mid 80's this afternoon, and mountain areas will mostly end up in the 70's.

The cooling trend will continue through the next few days, and the potential for active weather will become more widespread. Clouds will be increasing for your Thursday, and we have a decent chance for showers and thunderstorms extending into the valley on Thursday evening. There will be a 20 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms to extend into the valley on Thursday evening, and a 30 percent chance for active weather in the valley on Friday. Temperatures will top out in the high 70's to low 80's in the valley tomorrow, and will then cool into the low to mid 70's for Friday afternoon. Friday will have the best chance for widespread wet weather in your extended forecast.

There will be a lingering chance for active weather across Northern California for the morning on Saturday, but that will fizzle out through the day. Clearing skies, and high temperatures in the high 70's will return for Saturday afternoon in the valley. Sunday looks dry and mostly sunny, with high temperatures warming back into the mid to high 80's. We will stay dry and sunny on Memorial Day, and temperatures in the valley are expected to climb into the low to mid 90's. Even warmer temperatures are expected on Tuesday, with valley areas ending up in the mid 90's.
