Redding Firefighter injured while battling Thomas Fire

Redding Fire Chief Gerry Gray says one of their firefighters is coming home from Southern California after being injured on the fire lines.

The Redding Fire Department released the report on Twitter, saying on Sunday at around 7 a.m. a Redding Firefighter assigned to OES Engine 324, was injured while assigned to the Thomas Fire burning in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

The unidentified firefighter was taken to a hospital in Santa Barbara, and it was confirmed that his lower leg was fractured. Our firefighter is in good spirits and is returning home.

The Redding Fire Department has sent another member to replace the injured firefighter on the assignment in Ventura. Since the start of the Southern California firestorm, the Redding Fire Department has committed two battalion chiefs and three engines, for a total of thirteen personnel.
