Shasta County Firefighters Battling "Creek Fire" West of Redding

The “Creek Fire” in Shasta County that ignited Sunday afternoon, prompted massive evacuations for the area of Clear Creek and Highway 273.

REDDING, Calif. - The 1,300-acre “Creek Fire” in Shasta County that ignited Sunday afternoon, prompted massive evacuations for the area of Clear Creek and Highway 273.

According to Cal Fire, multiple fires started breaking out near Clear Creek Road and Highway 273, west of Redding. Those fires combined together to be the “Creek Fire.”

As of Tuesday morning, the fire is 65% contained.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office says several of the fires burning in Shasta County Sunday afternoon is considered suspicious in nature and want the public’s help in locating a gold or tan 1990s model Chrysler minivan. Any information is asked to call SHASCOM at (530)-245-6540.

The updated evacuations from the Shasta County Sheriff's Office are:

Placer Road evacuations have since been lifted by Shasta County deputies.

There is an advisory for the areas of China Gulch Road and Boun Boulevard.

An evacuation center has been established at West Valley High School cafeteria, 3805 Happy Valley Road.
