Make sure you're prepared for another hot day before you head out the door this morning, but temperatures are not expected to be as hot as yesterday. Clear skies are in store for the start of your Thursday morning, and are expected to stay sunny today. Temperatures are in the high 60's to low 70's in the valley this morning, and in the mid 40's to low 50's in the mountains. Winds are up to around 5mph out of the North to start your day, and will increase to 10 to 15mph out of the North for your afternoon. Humidity will still dip to very low levels this afternoon, with valley areas expecting to drop in the 10 to 25 percent range later today. High temperatures are projected to top out in the mid to high 90's in the valley this afternoon, and will range in the 80's for the mountains. Some thin clouds may brush across our region tonight, but no showers are expected.
Temperatures will continue to cool on Friday, and a few more clouds will brush across our region. South winds will pick up, and help to enhance the Delta Breeze. Valley areas will top out in the low to mid 90's on Friday afternoon, so they will still be above average for this time of year. A more substantial cooling trend will be on the way for your weekend.
Clouds will return to the mountains on Friday night, and showers will be possible in higher elevations closest to the Oregon border this weekend. High temperatures will only top out in the mid to high 80's in the valley for both Saturday and Sunday. That means we finally have below average temperatures returning in your forecast. Mountain showers will more than likely hold off until Saturday afternoon in the Northern Mountains, and will then spread into the Southern Cascades on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Showers will mostly impact areas of the Sierra and Cascades on Sunday. Valley areas are expecting to stay mostly dry this weekend, but we may have a few showers brushing through lower elevations overnight Saturday into Sunday. Some mountain showers could linger into early next week, but temperatures will be on the rise again on Monday through Wednesday. Valley areas will return to the low to mid 90's Monday and will get slightly warmer through Wednesday.
