Update 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 - Action News Now reporter Spencer Joseph just spoke with Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett who confirmed that Democratic State Assembly candidate Caleen Sisk was charged with six counts of fraud, as well as one count of grand theft.

She was formerly arraigned on June 22, 2018. Her preliminary hearing is set for early August.

Even though Sisk is in the middle of an election, the charges alleged that these actions involving overpayment for services started in 2013 and ran through 2017.

Sisk is not currently in custody, according to the D.A., A spokesperson for Sisk says that she is denying all of the allegations.

REDDING, Calif. - Winnemem Wintu Chief and Spiritual Leader Caleen Audry Sisk have been arrested for fraud, due to charges that have been filed by the Shasta County District Attorney.

According to representatives of her Democratic campaign for State Assembly District 1, Sisk is denying the charges. Action News Now reporter Spencer Joseph was told Sisk's attorney, Joe Gazzigli, will be issuing a statement on Thursday.

Sisk's next day in court will be on August 7, 2018.  She is expected to make a plea on that date. The following day, August 8, 2018, is designated for her preliminary hearing.
