The Pleasant Valley boys basketball team is enjoying a fantastic season. They're 25-2 overall and with playoffs underway, they've got their sights set on a section title. It's something that eluded them last year and as Action News Now's Ross Field reports, senior Kevin Kremer is doing his part to make sure that doesn't happen again.
Kevin Kremer has been a three-year starter for the Pleasant Valley Vikings. This past week, he earned the honor of Cal Hi Sports Norcal Player of the Week, but for Kremer it's not all about personal achievement.
"Yeah, I'm definitely all about the team, doing whatever it takes to win," said Kremer.
The senior grew up in Chico and is in the son on Kelly and Kevin. You may have seen his dad, a local dentist, in commericals.
"We were watching the Olympics the other night as a family, one of his commercials came on and it's kind of weird to see him on there. He's a funny guy, always pushing me to do my best," said Kremer.
Dad's supportive and famous, but not as famous as Junior. Kremer has been unstoppable.
This season he's averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. For his high school he's tallied 1,294 points and 732 rebounds. The 6-foot-5, 210-ounder credits the work he puts in during the offseason for his success.
"I've been doing workouts to improve my game and last year for AAU I played with Team Lillard on the Adidas Circuit and then during the summertime I played with a team out of Las Vegas, Simply Fundamental. There's college coaches watching so they see how you handle pressure and perform," said Kremer.
And Kremer would like to play at the next level. He's received interest from several schools including UC Davis and St. Mary's. But for now, he's just focused leading his team to what he hopes will be a section title.
"We really not overlooking any games, we're just focused on game at a time and making sure we get the job done," said Kremer.
